Q. WHY IS A FAIR TRADE COLLECTION IMPORTANT TO mark.? A. We had a great idea to create a super-luxe, moisture-intensive group of products that were truly nourishing for the skin. But we didn't want these products to just stop there. The mark. mission is one of social responsibility and empowerment, and so our Fair Trade Certified body collection hits on all these elements. Q. HOW DOES mark. KNOW THAT ITS FAIR TRADE PRODUCTS ARE ACTUALLY HELPING PEOPLE?
A. We knew that we needed a trustworthy partner that had an established relationship with farms and could help us keep our promise of social responsibility. TransFair USA, a nonprofit organization and the only third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the United States, champions for farmers in ways that go beyond helping the farmers secure a fair price for their goods. They also monitor transactions between U.S. companies like mark. and the foreign suppliers who are responsible for getting the farmers' crops to us, as well as ensure that the farmers are paid fairly. In addition, TransFair provides farmers with tools, training and resources meant to help them thrive as international businesspeople. Our partnership with TransFair helps us deliver on our idea of body care that cares, so it makes us proud to display the TransFair symbol on our products.
